Turin is the capital of Piedmont region. One of the region with spectacular wines. Apart from wine, Turin also has archaeological remains. Particularly from the Romans.
This is Julius Caesar although this statue is a modern made, the gate behind him is not. That gate is Porta Palatina (the Palatine Gate) an ancient Roman gate created in the 1st century BC.
This fantastic Roman mosaic are located in the Turin archaeological museum, where you can also find splendid Roman theatre and Roman finds.
This is Antinous, the boyfriend of Emperor Hadrian. The head is a real ancient Roman though the body is a modern copy. Look how beautiful Antinous is!
How about the bronze head above? Does anyone know who that is?
Don’t forget to also visit the Egyptian museum. You will be an awe to see so much Egyptian artefact here.

Look at this huge statue of a person with a cat / lion body
How about the below figure? This is Thutmose III. This statue is impressively big.
The below statue is Ramesses III.
Some of the sarcophagus are beautifully painted. Sometimes are also written with hieroglyphics.
Don’t forget to scroll around Turin main square which is beautiful typical square in Italy.
Not sure who is the man in the statue with the horse? Is that Vittorrio Emannuelle II ?
We stay in Starhotel Majestic, very elegant hotel.
The hotel has delicious breakfast. But we do not recommend their dinner. Better eat somewhere else there are plenty Italian restaurants around.
There are some nice restaurants not far from the Church square and Porta Palatina.
We had a yummy lunch here.
Also don’t forget to visit the Cathedral square:
There is also a lovely Church near our hotel, but apologies I forgot the name of the Church. The Church is within Parrocchia Madonna Degli Angeli.
Turin is a busy city, it has Tram links.
