Viewing an Auction House in Islington
When I was antiquing in Islington, to be precised at the Camden Passage, I have noticed that there is an auction house in the area. Not too far from Camden Passage, you can find an interesting auction house not to be missed: The Criterion Auctioneers. Their address is at 53 Essex Road, London N1 2SF.

I like their weekend viewing time of Saturday and Sunday; so if you are working on weekdays, you can always come on Saturday or Sunday.

As it was my first time of visiting an auction house, I found it very interesting. It is like you are visiting a gallery full of various antiques.

There are antique silver and jewellery too..

Look at this stunning mahogany chess table:

And the complete description of it.

You can put your bid at the viewing too! But as in auction in general, be prepared to pay commission on top of your bid. The commission can be as high as 24%. So bear in mind if you win the auction, you have to pay the hammered price plus 24%.

You can follow the real auction online; and you can bid online too! See here for more information about the real-time auction of the Criterion and how to bid online.
