Yuhuuu.. the post today is about our trip to Ancona in Spring. Yes, you can have a budget travel to this beautiful city in Le Marche region. There is a direct flight from London to Ancona using Ryanair.
The old town square is Piazza del Plebiscito. My impression is that it is not a touristy city. So if you want a real-life Italian city, this might be the one.
Ancona is a port city, thus you can see a lot of ships, loading and taxiing. This is a very working-class city, you can feel the real life of people working in the port.
We stay at Seeport Hotel very close to the City Centre.
Is this room with a view?
There are also Roman remains in Ancona..
You can still see part of what used to be a Roman amphitheatre.
And the most impressive of all is the Arch of Trajan.
It was built in 115 AD.
Maybe Ancona was once a Roman port too.
It was not all bright and sunny when we were there. Below is the new town Ancona taken probably before raining.
Our snacking time…
One of beautiful churches we see in Ancona.
Not sure what building this is, with all these pretty hand-painted ceilings.
All in all, Ancona is pleasantly beautiful. It is quiant, quiet and effectively a working Italian city.
